Black swan

Here is a photograph of black swans in a small pond. As it was not a rainy season the pond or lake was like a mud pond.

This picture was taken with a simple point and shoot Kodak Cx7300.

Simple point and shoot cameras

If you are not a professional or if photography is not your hobby why do you pay a lot of money to buy expensive cameras.

Most of the time people print the photographs on small photograph papers such as 10 x 15 cm.

Even many people do not print, just keep the pictures in their computers. So why you pay more for more megapixels.

For small prints a 3 mp camera is enough. But if you want to crop some parts of the photos may be you need 5 mp. Actually you cannot find less than 6mp nowadays.

My opinion is if you are taking photos just for fun buy a simple cheap camera. But the lens and sensor type is important to have good quality images. So buy the simplest models of well known camera brands. To my opinion Kodak has very good price performance ratio. But also the brands like Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Pentax, and many other well known camera producers have cheap point and shoot models.

The picture shows an old Kodak digital simple camera CX 7300 which I bought to my 9 years old son for school trips , 5 years ago. Now ofcourse the simplest camera has much properties than this one. But even this simple camera is enough for memory photographs. I will post some pictures taken with this camera. Here is one of the pictures. Ofcourse when the pictures is viewed 100% size you can see the noise, it is natural it is not a DSLR or SLR. But on your computer or on small cards photos are beautiful and enough for just memory.

When you go to a shop they will tell you a lot of properties of the camera which you will probably will not use most of them.

Nikon Speedlight SB-18

The Nikon Speedlight SB-18 is a compact, direct-mounting electronic flash unit which provides automatic through-the-lens (TTL) control of the flash exposure when used with the Nikon FG, FE2, or FA, or the Nikonos-V via the V-Type Sync Cord. Because light is measured through the actual picture-taking lens, you are assured of just the right exposure with a variety of lenses and accessory attachments at any aperture from f/2 to f/16.
Through the use of a silicon-controlled rectifier and series circuitry, the S8·18 is able to conserve energy when shooting subjects at close range; thus recycling times are shorter and the number of flashes per battery set is greater.
The S8-18 is also compatible with most Nikon cameras for manual operation. In addition, the SB-18 couples with the flash ready-light inside the viewfinders of current Nikon cameras. As soon as the flash is ready to fire, the LED comes on.
In my opinion it is a practical flash unit to old Nikon SLR cameras.

I do not know if it can be used with the new digital cameras.

Mechelerhof, Mechelen

These pictures were taken in De Mechelerhof in Mechelen (Limburg) where during a company meeting we have stayed in 1997. Very nice countryside and very good place for short (even long) holidays. It was a nice trip.
I hope still keeps the beautiful nature.
Pictures were taken with my Nikon Fa but printed in 1997 and now scanned by a desktop printer (HP PSC 1410) from the photographs.
